Animal Activist To Hold Multiple Vigils At Utah Farms

Representatives from an animal rights group are gathering near an egg farm in Utah. Direct Action Everywhere is holding the vigil for as many as 300,000 chickens lost during a fire at the the Fassio Egg Farm near Tooele.  The group is also responsible for taking two piglets from the Millard, Utah Circle Four Farms in June.

Utah Ranchers Not Impacted By Japanese Beef Tariffs

The government of Japan has raised tariffs for U.S. beef from 38.5 percent to 50 percent which will last until March 31, 2018. U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Purdue has expressed concerns with the new tariffs and the U.S. trade relationship with Japan. Experts from Utah are concerned about trade relationships with Japan, but aren’t concerned for local beef producers.

Budget Cuts To Affect Life-Saving Farm Equipment

In the proposed budget for 2018, cuts are being considered to a federal program that helps farmers afford safety equipment. Funding to reduce tractor roll-over deaths could be especially hard for farmers.
