Road work in Logan, Box Elder County starts Monday

The state’s transportation department is gearing up for two major road projects in Cache and Box Elder counties.

Beginning Monday, June 3, UDOT will begin a concrete rehabilitation project on a 15-mile stretch of Interstate 15 in Box Elder County between Riverside and the Idaho state line.

Crews will be installing short steel rods between concrete slab joints. UDOT spokesman Vic Saunders says the process improves the freeway surface and extends the life of the road.  Work on that project is expected to wrap up by early fall. Drivers can expect single-lane travel restrictions in each direction around the clock.

In Logan, separate crews will be working on 400 North between Main Street and the mouth of Logan Canyon to resurface a section of U.S. Hwy 89. That project also starts Monday. Saunders says the maintenance includes pothole patching, weather sealing and some pedestrian access improvements at intersections.
