New Phone Scam Appearing In Cache County

consumerfinance.gov

Several people have received a phone call where the caller identifies himself and Lt. Frank Rogers from the Cache County Sheriff’s Office. According to Sheriff’s Office, Frank Roger is not a real employee.

The caller is attempting to get people to submit a Civil Bench Warrant payment over the phone by leaving them a call-back number. If someone calls the number, the caller is answered with a prerecorded message attempting to mimic the Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Offices released a statement saying it will never take payments over the phone or accept money transfers for Civil Bench Warrants. People must pay these in person.

Sheriff Chad Jensen wants people to know to never give out personal information over the phone. He also asks for those who know about the scam to spread the word to their neighbors, especially the elderly and those who don’t use social media, as they are often the people targeted in these kind of scams.
