Provo police say at 7:30 Friday morning, a 69-year-old man riding his bike was struck by an SUV at a train crossing in Provo.  The car knocked the man off his bike onto the train tracks.

A FrontRunner train had recently left the Provo station before the train’s engineer noticed debris on the track and tried to stop.  The train could not stop before it hit the man on the tracks.

Emergency crews took the man to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.  He died from his injuries shortly after.

The Provo police department say the woman driving the SUV stayed at the scene of the accident while they questioned her about the incident.

Provo police have not released the name of the victim because of the ongoing investigation.
