On the show this week, I feature the new collection of transcendent songs from Richard Shindell, and the latest traditional music release from the Carolina Chocolate Drops. The summer concert season is upon us, and here’s a list of what’s happening when: Mary Chapin Carpenter performs at Kenley Amphitheatre on July 26th, Neil Diamond does a show at Rio Tinto Stadium on July 28th, Bruce Cockburn plays at the State Room on August 10th, the California Guitar Trio does a show at the Prospector Theater on August 11th, Kathleen Edwards performs at Pioneer Park on August 16th, Joe Walsh plays at the Gallivan Center on August 21st, Mumford and Sons do a show at Saltair Pavilion on August 22nd, Bruce Hornsby plays at the Sandy City Amphitheater on August 31st, Rosanne Cash performs at the Kenley Amphitheater also on August 31st, The Wood Brothers perform at the Canyons on September 1st, and the Old 97s do a show at the Urban Lounge on September 8th.
At Red Butte Garden this summer, the season continues with Los Lobos with Steve Earle on July 29th, Diana Krall on August 8th, Gavin DeGraw on August 10th, Michael Franti on August 12th, Norah Jones on August 21th, Crosby, Stills, and Nash on August 23rd, and Bonnie Raitt with Mavis Staples on August 28th and 29th. In Logan, Sarah Sample plays at Crumb Brothers on August 25th
