Managers of privately owned Cherry Peak Resort have announced on its Facebook page that it will open Dec. 21.
Cherry Peak Resort's crew has been working to ensure the resort's vision becomes a reality. Over the last few months, they have added an additional lift, made snow, talked to investors and are finishing the construction of the lodge.
Cherry Peak was slated to open last year, said CEO and developer John Chadwick, but after deciding to add another lift and change the size of the lodge, the re-engineering process took longer than anticipated.
Cherry Peak will occupy 240 acres of family-owned land totaling 280 acres.
A skier since 1967, Chadwick has a vision for Cherry Peak:
"I just want to see everybody smile, and make sure we have enough money coming in to pay our bills," Chadwick said. "Like Saturday, the Cache Valley ski team was up here practicing. Just watching those kids have a blast, to me that's what it's all about."
Cherry Peak will occupy 240 acres of family-owned land totaling 280 acres. With a variety of terrain types to accommodate skiers and snowboarders, one hope is the resort will attract families, students and communities of all skiing abilities, said Kim Chadwick, John Chadwick's wife and the events coordinator for Cherry Peak.
"My vision is people will come up here, bring their families, make amazing family memories and love it here, just like we always loved it," she said. "We love it here and even before the resort got started we were up here all the time in a little camp area."
Cherry Peak Resort will have just under 30 runs, two of three chairlifts open and a magic carpet area for learners. Day tickets are priced at $49 with a current deal of three days for $99. Lift tickets can be purchased at at skicherrypeak.us or iskicp.com.
