"Blood Oil" On Tuesday's Access Utah

For a generation, some of the money we’ve spent at the gas station and the mall has gone to empower the authoritarians and the armed groups that have given us our worst foreign-born crises. How can we get ourselves out of business with hostile petrocrats and the violent extremists?

In his new book, “Blood OIl: Tyrants, Violence, and the Rules that Run the World,” Leif Wenar says that citizens, consumers and politicians can together lead a peaceful global resource revolution, which will make us more secure at home, more trusted abroad, and better able to solve pressing global problems like climate change.

Leif Wenar holds the Chair of Philosophy and Law at King’s College London.

He earned his degrees in Philosophy from Stanford and Harvard and has been a Visiting Professor at Princeton and Stanford, and has been a Fellow of the Carnegie Council Program in Justice and the World Economy. This spring he will be William H. Bonsall Visiting Professor at Stanford.

Leif Wenar will give a talk on Tuesday, January 26, 2016, 7:00 PM at Westminster College in Salt Lake City for the Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy as a part of the Ambassador John Price and Marcia Price World Affairs Lecture Series. The lecture is free and open to the public, held in the Vieve Gore Concert Hall, Westminster College, 1840 S. 1300 E., Salt Lake City.
