Girl Scout Money Thief Turns Himself In

The man accused of stealing cookie money from a Girl Scout troop has turned himself into the police.  UPR’s Brianna Bodily has more on the details and possible motivation behind the crime.

Unified Police Detective Ken Hansen says 24-year-old Steven Andrew Kvenvold turned himself into police around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. 

Police say members of Troop 2532 were selling cookies at a stand outside a Taylorsville Wal-Mart last Saturday when a man and woman, working together, stole their cash box.

Committee Rejects Climate Change Bill

Legislation that for the first time would have acknowledged the science of human-caused climate change by the government of the State of Utah was debated during a committee meeting on Monday, before being rejected on a 11-4 vote.

Republican representative Kraig Powell, of Heber, wants the state legislature to acknowledge the effects that climate change is having on wildfires in Utah.

“What the bill does is - it authorizes the state division of forestry, fire and public lands to consider the effects of climate change on their efforts to develop and implement firefighting strategies.”

Oil Rig Fire Forces Evacuations Near Roosevelt

A drilling rig near Roosevelt caught fire late Monday night and forced the evacuation of a work crew and three homes.  UPR’s Brianna Bodily reports.
