Last week, Weber County joined ten other Utah counties to file a lawsuit against opioid distributing and manufacturing companies after claims of false advertising for commonly used pain medications.

A national police expert says evidence room problems like a Utah technician fired after being found high on methamphetamine at work are all too common.

Public documents show a fired evidence-room technician acknowledged using methamphetamine seized in Weber County Sheriff's Office investigations.

The Standard-Examiner reports that the former tech was fired Jan. 8, 2018, after her supervisor found her to be impaired multiple times. Police say they're investigating possible criminal charges against the woman.

The Weber County  District Attorney's office filed charges of forgery and violations of petition procedures against two contractors for a company called Gather.  Gather is working to collect signatures to get the Utah Medical Cannabis Act and the Direct Primary Election initiatives on the ballot this November.

A Cessna with two people aboard didn't return to the Ogden airport after a short sightseeing trip on Dec. 29.

Box Elder County Sheriff's officials spotted an object Saturday that could possibly be an aircraft.

A sheriff's scuba team and Weber County Sheriff's personnel planned to take a closer look at the object Sunday, depending on weather conditions.

Alcohol will be banned at the Pineview and Causey reservoirs under a new rule passed by the Weber County commissioners.

The commissioners say they made the decision Tuesday based on conversations with homeowners, boat owners, anglers and state officials.
