U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz is planning to headline a campaign rally to support a former Utah state legislator who is vying to replace Jason Chaffetz in Congress.

Chris Herrod's campaign announced Monday that Cruz will appear alongside Herrod at a rally Saturday in Lehi. Herrod was selected by about 800 members of Utah's GOP last month as their preferred candidate during a state convention.
