Worker At Zion National Park Has Tuberculosis

Zion National Park worker positive for tuberculosis

According to a news release from the park, an employee at Zion Lodge tested positive for tuberculosis on March 13. The person is being treated, and a number of people who were in contact with that person are also being tested as a precaution.

David Eaker is a spokesperson for the National Park Service at Zion.

“This person is now undergoing treatment for that," Eaker said. "We feel that with the quick response from our team and from the Utah Health Department that we have isolated this case, and we do not fear [or] think that there is any risk at all from any visitors coming to Zion National Park. Either to the lodge or to the park itself.”

Health officials also note that the infected person was not employed in a position involving direct contact with park visitors.
