The Utah State Legislature

Provo Republican state Sen. Curt Bramble had previously served a term as the group’s vice-president when he was elected as the president of the National Conference of State Legislatures on Thursday. Bramble, a Certified Public Accountant by trade, has served in the Utah Senate since 2001.

Upon hearing the news of the senator’s election, Senate President Wayne Neiderhauser released a statement, praising Bramble’s leadership ability.

“Senator Bramble’s new role is a great opportunity for the Utah Legislature and Utah citizens to offer our best to our sister states,” the statement said. “Senator Bramble has a strong understanding of key national issues and unique ability to get the right people in the room to hammer out real solutions.”

The NCSL is a network of state legislatures from around the country that seeks to increase cooperation among its members. Bramble is the second Utah official in recent weeks to become the head of an interstate government organization. Gov. Gary Herbert was recently named the head of the National Governors Association.
