Utah Gay Marriage at the Grammys

A same-sex couple from Utah are now married after a mass wedding ceremony officiated by Queen Latifah during the Grammy awards.

Spencer Stout and Dustin Reeser from Salt Lake City exchanged vows during the televised show.

Gay and straight couples arrived in the middle of a performance of “Same Love,” a song about gay acceptance by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis during the Gammys. The couples were married in front of an estimated 26.7 million viewers.  

The couple was recruited for the show their proposal video went viral.

In the YouTube video, Stout surprised Reeser when he went to Home Depot on a routine shopping trip. Reeser arrived in the lumber aisle where he found friends and family members waiting for him started dancing to the song, “Somebody Loves You” by Betty Who. Reeser then appeared from around the corner and joined in the dancing. He then got on one knee and purposed to Stout as people in the audience clapped.

The film on YouTube has 11.3 million views.
