Utah Board Of Education OKs Contract For 2nd New Test

Utah will no longer use SAGE testing.

Utah is ending its use of the SAGE standardized test and moving to tests produced by other providers.

The state Board of Education earlier this year approved a new test called "RISE" provided by Questar Assessment Inc. for students in grades three through eight, and the board on Thursday approved a contract with Pearson for the Utah Aspire Plus test for students in 9th and 10th grades.

Both contracts are for 10 years.

The state's contract for the SAGE test administered through the American Institute for Research has expired. Utah began using that test in 2013.
