Update: Hospital Shooting Suspect Named

Cache County Sheriff's Office

Police have identified the individual who was shot by law enforcement at Cache Valley Hospital on Friday morning as 34-year-old Jason James Burr of North Logan.

According to North Park Police Chief Kim Hawkes, Burr was in a hospital waiting room at around 8 a.m. when he was seen brandishing a firearm. Reports indicate the hospital was then locked down while personnel tried to subdue the suspect. Two Adult Probation and Parole officers, who were at the hospital on a separate case, confronted Burr.

That's when Burr reportedly raised his firearm at one of the officers who fired four shots at the suspect. Burr  was taken by air ambulance to University Hospital in Salt Lake City where he's listed in critical but stable condition.

It wasn't immediately clear if Burr fired any shots.

Authorities from multiple agencies responded to the scene. There were no other injuries reported.

Greenville Elementary has lifted its lockdown, which was put in place because of the school's proximity to the hospital.
