Two Utah residents hit the jackpot in Idaho

A Utah man and his son who have been buying Idaho lottery tickets for years together said they always knew they’d hit it big some day. Now they’re going to share a one-million dollar Powerball jackpot.

Mike Middlemiss of West Valley City and his son, Christ Middlemiss of South Jordan, bought the winning ticket of Chris’ birthday last month at the Kwik Shop in Malad City near the Idaho-Utah line.

Chris is a paramedic and his wife is attending school. He said they plan to use their share to pay off some student loans and hope to make a down payment on a new home. His dad said he intends to save for retirement.

Tavin Stucki is a senior in Utah State University's journalism program, and works as a news reporting intern at UPR. He lives for sports, and is the current editor in chief at The Utah Statesman.
