17-year-old boy arrested on murder charges in case of Anna Kasprzak's death.

An arrest has been made in conjunction with the murder of a 15-year old Utah girl that occurred over two years ago.

A teenage boy, whose name has not been released, was arrested in Grand Junction, Co. Thursday morning; however, authorities say the 17-year-old was a resident of Utah at the time of the murder.

Representatives of the District Attorney’s Office told media in a press conference Thursday afternoon that they have filed criminal charges against the juvenile.

Because the suspect was apprehended out-of-state, officials say he will need to be extradited back to Utah before criminal proceedings can begin.

Anne Kasprzak died of blunt force trauma to the head and was found in the Jordan River on March 11, 2012.

The victim’s mother Veronica Kasprzak said the news of an arrest is overwhelming.

“It feels incomplete to say that it is any sort of a relief because, while we support the police department and the attorney’s office and we appreciate all the work they have continued to do, it does not change what happened,” Kasprzak said.

Police say a 34-year-old convicted felon previously arrested in the case has no connection to Anne Kasprzak's death.
