Statewide Debates Heard Live On UPR

Utah Public Radio will be broadcasting five debates live this election season, in cooperation with the VoteUtah initative. The newly-formed Utah Debate Commission will be producing the state-wide debates. 

Each debate listed below will air live on UPR at 6 p.m. and be re-broadcasted the following morning at 11 a.m.

  • The First Congressional District Debate will air Tuesday, Sept. 23. It will be moderated by KUED's Ken Verdoia from Weber State University. The debate will be between Donna McAleer and Rob Bishop.
  • The Second Congressional District Debate will air Thursday, Sept. 25. It will be moderated by Barbara Smith from Southern Utah University. The debate will be between Luz Robles and Chris Stewart.

  • The Utah Attorney General Debate will air Wednesday, Oct. 1. It will be moderated by David Magleby from KBYU studios at Brigham Young University. The debate will be between Charles A. Stormont and Sean D. Reyes.

  • The Third Congressional Debate will air Tuesday, Oct. 7. It will also be moderated by David Magleby from Utah Valley University. The debate will be between Brian Wonnacott and Jason Chaffetz.
  • The Fourth Congressional Debate will air Tuesday, Oct. 14. It will be moderated by Ken Verdoia from KUED Studios in Salt Lake City. The debate will be between Mia Love and Doug Owens.
