Southern Utah University Inaugurates New President

There was pageantry and fanfare on the campus of Southern Utah University last week, as the school inaugurated its 16th president.

Friday Sept. 12 marked the opening of a new era at SUU, when president Scott L. Wyatt was inducted as the university's 16th president.

Wyatt, reflecting on the university's 19th Century founders who, at great sacrifice obtained the lumber and other materials necessary to build its first structure, also called upon others to continue building.

"I ask the members of our community and alumni to go with us back up the mountain. We cannot succeed without your help. It was this community, it was your community, that gave our university life. And it will be your community that will sustain it and help us thrive," Wyatt said.

The inauguration of President Wyatt was in conjunction with the University's annual homecoming festivities.
