Southern Utah High School Mourns Loss Of Two Students At Graduation Wednesday Night

Snow Canyon High School in St. George conducted its graduation exercises Wednesday night.  It did so without two of its graduating students.

The high school already had plans at its Wednesday graduation ceremonies to memorialize KJ Harrison, a student who died of an accidental drowning while on a scout trip last summer.

The school did not intend to recognize the absence of another graduating student, Brooks Johnson, who was killed in a rollover accident on Saturday.

Rich Nielson, principal at canyon view high school in Cedar City says all schools in Southern Utah are in a state of mourning.

“It's just devastating. I know Principal Brooks very well, and I know how much he would be struggling and at the same time trying to encourage the remaining graduating class to be able to rally together and end on a good note. It is a delicate balance.”

Another snow canyon student, junior, Austin Mcelyia was also killed in a dirt bike-ATV crash on Sunday.
