Rita Moreno On Monday's Access Utah

Mark Hill Photography

Rita Moreno is one of few people to hold the awards "Grand Slam" -- Oscar, Grammy, Emmy, and Tony. In her twenties, after her Oscar win for "West Side Story," she didn't work in Hollywood again for seven years, because she refused stereotyped roles. She's see as a trailblazer. And she's having, at 83, a well-deserved very good year.

Her first Spanish-language album "Una Vez Maz," produced by Emilio Estefan, is out and she's the voice of Abuelita on the new children's television series "Nina's World."
Rita Moreno is speaking at the USU Caine College of the Arts Dean's Convocation on October 5 at Utah State University. She performs concerts across the country and often appears as a guest artist with symphony orchestras.

Tom Williams worked as a part-time UPR announcer for a few years and joined Utah Public Radio full-time in 1996. He is a proud graduate of Uintah High School in Vernal and Utah State University (B. A. in Liberal Arts and Master of Business Administration.) He grew up in a family that regularly discussed everything from opera to religion to politics. He is interested in just about everything and loves to engage people in conversation, so you could say he has found the perfect job as host “Access Utah.” He and his wife Becky, live in Logan.
