Resignation Of Cache County Republican Party Leaders Not A Surprise

Two Cache County Republican officials quit their positions this week as a protest of presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

Andy Rasmussen and Jonathan Choate, who served on the Cache County Republican Party's executive committee and chairmen of two districts, resigned this week.

UPR’S Kerry Bringhurst spoke with Cache County Republican Party Chairman Boyd Pugmire. He told her that despite his concerns about the Trump nomination he does not seem himself stepping aside from his party position. She also asked Jonathan Choate why leaving the party was necessary when many Republicans are choosing to stay while opting not to vote for Trump.

At 14-years-old, Kerry began working as a reporter for KVEL “The Hot One” in Vernal, Utah. Her radio news interests led her to Logan where she became news director for KBLQ while attending Utah State University. She graduated USU with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and spent the next few years working for Utah Public Radio. Leaving UPR in 1993 she spent the next 14 years as the full time mother of four boys before returning in 2007. Kerry and her husband Boyd reside in Nibley.
