In the wake of a federal judge’s ruling effectively de-criminalizing polygamy in Utah, we’ll talk with Jonathan Turley, the attorney representing the Kody Brown family, which brought the lawsuit. We’ll also talk with a former member of the FLDS community.
Rebecca Musser was born into the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. At age 19, she was forced into a polygamous marriage to the church’s prophet, a man more than four times her age. After her husband died and Warren Jeffs, the new prophet, tried to force her to remarry, she escaped. Rebecca Musser later testified against Warren Jeffs and other FLDS leaders in Texas. She is the founder of ClaimRED, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing dignity, hope and healing to victims of human trafficking. Her new book is “The Witness Wore Red: The 19th Wife Who Brought Polygamous Cult Leaders to Justice.”
