Orrin Hatch Raises $1.3M For Possible Re-election Run

Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch has raised about $1.3 million in campaign donations in recent months as he prepares for a possible re-election run, something the long-serving Republican has opened the door to after pledging years ago that his current term would be his last.

Fundraising numbers provided Wednesday by Hatch's office show the senator ended March with $3.5 million in his campaign account.

Hatch says that while he's preparing for a campaign, he hasn't made a final decision on whether he'll seek an eighth term.

He spent more than $10 million to secure his 2012 re-election, a record for a Utah race.

The 83-year-old has said he might not run again if former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who now lives in Utah, would consider running.
