Man's Death After Fleeing From Police Being Investigated

The investigation continues by the Arizona Department of Public Safety into the death of a motorcyclist who was tased twice after fleeing a traffic stop on Interstate 15, near Littlefield Friday evening.

Michael John O'Connell, 44, had a felony warrant for seven counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a child issued out of San Jose, Calif.

That might explain why he chose to abandon his motorcycle and flee into the desert when being pulled over. Arizona authorities are still investigating the cause of his death.

Deptuties say after they discovered O'Connell hiding in brush, he became combative. A Mohave County Deputy and an Arizona State Trooper each used a taser to subdue him. He went into cardiac arrest and despite efforts to resuscitate him, O'Connell died at the scene.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
