Local Author Scores Big With Small Town, Contemporary Romance

RaeAnne Thayne, New York Times and USA Today bestselling romance author, has now written her golden anniversary book number 50.

“Every book is a new challenge, every book seems harder than the one before, even though I’ve written so many books," Thayne said. "You do. You have to dig deeper, you have to try harder to stretch yourself and to continue to give your reader something new and exciting.”

Her newest release, “Redemption Bay,” is book two in her Haven Point series. Each book in the series is a self-contained story with common themes from book to book. All the books in the Haven Point Series take place in the same small community, which Thayne said is based loosely on McCall, Idaho.

“The classification of [the books] is small town, sweet contemporary,” Thayne said.

The main character, McKenzie Shaw, is a passionate and dedicated mayor of the town of Haven Point. Thayne writes:

“She loved every season here on the lake but the magnificent Haven Point summers were her favorite — especially lazy summer evenings filled with long shadows and spectacular sunsets.

Kayaking on the lake, watching children swim out to the floating docks, seeing old-timers in ancient boats casting gossamer lines out across the water. It was all part of the magic of Haven Point’s short summer season.”

“I think I really try to bring my characters to life in a way that people want to be friends with them, that make my readers want to spend time with them. It’s a real obligation we have as writers to create characters that people are willing to invest hours of their life in reading about and possibly reading about again and again,” Thayne said.
