ALEC stands for the American Legislative Exchange Council, which states they are a non-profit organization, a "state legislators' think tank" that provides "a constructive forum for state legislators and private sector leaders to discuss and exchange practical, state-level public policy issues." There are currently 28 Utah State Legislators with memberships in ALEC.
Lee Austin talks to Utah Representative Bradley Daw and a member of ALEC about his involvement and his defense of the organization. He also talks to Maryann Martindale executive director of the Alliance for a Better Utah about the arguments against ALEC. In the second half of the program, the topic is wildfires: what's happened so far, and what's expected for the rest of the summer. Nick Howell, with the Bureau of Land Management is our guest.
