Inversion Here to Stay: At Least Until February

Cache Valley inversion, january 22 2013

The latest climate forecast for the inversion changes the predictions for the coming inversion. Rob Gilles said this current inversion is shaping up to be a much bigger event, rather than a single instance.

"What was predicted to be a late January to early February probability of inversion is now connected to the current ridging and together form a huge event," he said.

The inversion was originally predicted to break in the next few days, and while there may be a downplay in the inversion, Gilles said it won't be strong enough to break the larger event occurring in the atmosphere.

"I think the value of this run is to estimate how long this inversion is going to last - looks like it's gonna last into February," he said.
