Governor Herbert Welcomes New USU Distance Ed. Building

Utah Governor Gary Herbert attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Utah State University Distance Education building on Wednesday. As Utah State celebrated the completion of its new facility, the Governor touted the Distance Education program and its new high-tech headquarters.

Herbert says the new facility is an important step towards making higher education more accessible.

"You can actually access Utah State and get courses and have a classroom—even if it's through telecommunication capability—get a good education and not have to drive all the way to Logan. So, it improves accessibility in a significant way and keeps the costs down overall, which means more of us can get educated."

The building will serve as a hub connecting 26 USU branches statewide. It will be used to facilitate hundreds of online and broadcast classes.
