Governor Herbert on Access Utah

On the opening day of the legislature we talked briefly with Utah Governor Gary Herbert. We continue that discussion in the second half of Tuesday’s Access Utah.  We’ll talk about the economy, education, air quality and the proper balance of federal and state power.

We’ll conclude the program with a brief conversation with Sydney Dixon, Head of Teaching and Learning at the Utah State Office of Education and with Diana Suddreth, Teaching and Learning Specialist at USOE. We’ll talk about a switch many schools may soon be making to open-source on-line textbooks, which may be less expensive and more interactive.

In the first half today, we repeat a conversation from December of last year exploring a state initiative to reduce childhood obesity. Missy Monsivais, owner Imagination Time daycare, tells us how childcare facilities are turning off the TV and providing healthier snacks. We're also joined by Jessica Haymond, Healthy Child Care Coordinator at the Utah Department of Health.
