Fresh Folk- September 14

The Boxcar Lilies

On the show this week, I feature the fresh new album from Kim Richey, and the new release from the harmonizing trio The Boxcar Lilies. I’ll also play songs from new releases by Willie Nelson, Ashley Monroe, and Jason Boland, among other talented artists. Tune in and listen this Saturday at 8pm to Fresh Folk on Utah Public Radio.

There are some great concerts happening around the state, and here’s a list of who’s playing when:  Shawn Mullins at the State Room on Sept 17th, Ben Folds at the Depot on Sept 18th, Diana Krall at Kingsbury Hall on Sept 24th, Gordon Lightfoot at the Dee Events Center on Sept 26th, Matt Nathanson and Joshua Radin at the Murray Theater on Oct 7th, KT Tunstall at the State Room on Oct 8th, Jake Shimabukuro at the State Room on Oct 11th, Carbon Leaf at the Urban Lounge on Oct 14th, Taj Mahal at the Eccles Center for the Perf Arts on Oct 15th and 16th, Ani DiFranco at the Depot on Oct 19th, and the California Guitar Trio perform at Peery’s Egyptian Theater on Nov 3rd. Red Butte Garden’s season concludes with: the Black Crowes on Sept 15, and Neko Case on Sept 16th.  In Logan, song historian Sara Grey returns to Crumb Brothers on Sept 28th, and Alisa Fineman and Kimball Hurd play at Crumb Brothers on Oct 26th. Lastly, the Zion Canyon Music Festival takes place in Springdale on Sept 27th and 28th with Hollering Pines, Rainbow Girls and Nicki Bluhm, among others, performing, and start planning to attend the Moab Folk Festival on Nov 1-3rd, in Moab, with Joshua James, Ellis, and Eliza Gilkyson, among others, schedule to perform.
