Fresh Folk- May 26

On the show this week, I feature the affecting debut album from the duo Driftwood Fire, and the poetic new release from Kyle Alden. I’ll also play songs from new discs by Katie Quick, Jon Brooks, and Jay Einhorn, among other talented artists. Join me this Saturday at 8pm for Fresh Folk on Utah Public Radio.

The summer concert season is upon us, and here’s a list of what’s happening when:  Tab Benoit plays at the State Room on May 30th, Greg Laswell performs at the State Room on June 5th , John Fogerty plays at Deer Valley on June 21st,  Neko Case headlines the Utah Arts Festival on June 16th, the bluegrass band Blue Highway plays at the SL Library on June 24th, Glen Campbell performs at the Sandy City Amphitheatre on June 26th, the Avett Brothers play at the Gallivan Center on June 28th, the String Cheese Incident does a show at Deer Valley on July 10th, Red Molly plays at the Gallivan Center on July 21st, Mary Chapin Carpenter performs at Kenley Amphitheatre on July 26th, and Neil Diamond does a show at Rio Tinto Stadium on July 28th

At Red Butte Garden this summer, the season includes the Shins on May 28th, Bon Iver on May 29th, Sheryl Crow on June 3rd, Melissa Etheridge on June 13th, Wilco on June 25th, the B-52s on July 2nd, Brandi Carlisle on July 15th, Josh Ritter on July 17th, Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers on July 19th, and much more.  Look ahead to the Ogden Bluegrass and Acoustic Music Festival at Fort Buenaventura on June 2nd and 3rd, with Robert Earl Keen, The Claire Lynch Band, Elephant Revival and the Get Down Boys scheduled to perform.  In Logan, the duo Adler and Hearne play at Crumb Brothers Bakery on June 9th, and Blue Sage perform on July 14th, also at Crumb Brothers.
