A former police officer in a small Utah town who resigned in protest after alleging misconduct by the chief has filed a federal whistleblower complaint.
Darren Pead's lawsuit was filed Tuesday against the city of Ephraim and manager Brant Hanson.

It alleges Pead was targeted for retaliation after telling state officials that hundreds of police reports were left incomplete and "un-investigated" by longtime former Police Chief Ron Rasmussen.
Rasmussen isn't named in the complaint. He retired in September.
Hanson did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
The case alleges Pead found last summer that Rasmussen filed blank police reports on child abuse, missing persons and sexual assault for about a decade.
Pead resigned last June along with two other officers. He seeks unspecified damages, back pay and benefits.
