Cache County Jail To Begin Contracting Medical Services

grassrootsleadership.org

Medical services within the Cache County Jail are undergoing changes that will place the medical well-being of its inmates in the hands of a company specializing in correctional medical care.

The move has led to the resignation of existing medical staff and has raised claims that a contract service will eliminate around-the-clock care and put the safety and health care of inmates at risk.

Sheriff Chad Jensen, however, says the jail will err on the side of caution and take the people in their care to a hospital if they even think there is an issue.

Jensen says contracting with a larger company that specializes in providing this service allows medical professionals to take over medical issues, leaving the Sheriff's Office to worry about law enforcement.
