Investigators in Iron County, along with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, hope to solve a mystery. It involves the partially decomposed body of a man found just north of Cedar City.
The Iron County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a location near Summit, where deputies found a man’s body that was in the advanced stages of decomposition. Detectives were dispatched to further investigate.
The body was sent to the Utah State Medical Examiner’s office for autopsy. At this time the male has not been positively identified and the exact cause of death is still pending.
The Iron County Sheriff’s Office is currently working with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on the positive identity of the victim and possible reasons why this subject may have ended up in Iron County. Investigators have not yet indicated what it was at the scene that led them to contact Las Vegas police, but more information is expected as the investigation continues.
