Bear Lake.

The Bear Lake County Sheriff’s Office says an 11-year-old girl was reported missing Wednesday at the lake that is divided in half by the Idaho-Utah border. That girl, Brooklyn Lambourne, was found dead that same day.

The sheriff’s office also says that 37-year-old Jennifer Lambourne—Brooklyn’s mother—and another 8-year-old girl were found in the water near the town of Fish Haven at around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. They were taken to Bear Lake Memorial Hospital where Jennifer Lambourne was pronounced dead. She was a teacher with the Jordan School District.

Officials say the body of Brooklyn Lambourne was later recovered from the lake at around 7 p.m. She died while trying to help a relative who was struggling in the water.
