Amber Alert Issued In Utah For 2 Girls After Father's Arrest

Facebook

An amber alert has been issued in Utah for two girls whose father was arrested last week, more than two months after he disappeared with his four children.

The alert was issued Monday after sheriff's deputies in Utah's southwest Iron County raided a compound of a polygamist sect and found the girls' two brothers.

The alert is for 8-year-old Dinah and 4-year-old Hattie Coltharp. The alert says they are believed to be with a religious leader and associate of their father.

Spring City Police Chief Clarke Christensen says the children, their father and paternal grandparents disappeared in mid-September. He says John Coltharp was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, but has refused to disclose the children's location.

John Coltharp is at the Sanpete County Jail. Records do not list an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
