Agriculture and Climate Change on Access Utah Friday

Last year, agricultural producers experienced the worst drought in generations. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack announced this week the department's vision for agriculture in the face of evolving environmental challenges.  Today on the program, Sheri Quinn talks to USDA spokesperson Blake Walbeck about the challenges ahead for farmers and ranchers in Utah and discusses conservation stewardship funding available to producers in Utah and nationwide.

In the second portion of the program Science Questions explores the novel “Einstein's Dreams,” a series of fictional stories dreamed by Albert Einstein, through the music of singer, songwriter and author Randall Williams.  He tells the stories in the books through songs he composed along with youth in Salt Lake City.

Sheri's career in radio began at 7 years old in Los Angeles, California with a secret little radio tucked under her bed that she'd fall asleep with, while listening to The Dr. Demento Radio Show. She went on to produce the first science radio show in Utah in 1999 and has been reporting local, national and international stories ever since. After a stint as news director at KZYX on northern California's Lost Coast, she landed back at UPR in 2021.
