Aggies Face Challenge in LA Tech
Utah State is currently sitting on an 8-2 record for the year. The last time the Aggies won eight games in a season was 1974, almost four decades ago.
So it goes without saying that Aggie fans have been waiting a long time for a season like this. Fourth-year coach Gary Andersen already has the Aggies on their way to a bowl game for the second year in a row—something they haven’t done in over half a century.
But another accomplishment is on the line Saturday. The Aggies will head to Ruston, Louisiana, to face conference rivals Louisiana Tech. The Aggies can clinch at least a share of the WAC title this week with a win, but they’ll have to get through a nationally-ranked Bulldog team that has plowed through defenses all season. Louisiana Tech has scored more than fifty points in eight out of ten games.
Undeterred, Andersen says the game will be a great chance for both teams to prove their worth.
"It’s fun to be in a game that has this much on the outcome this late in the year. Late November games are what football teams play for and fans want to be around. It’s a great accomplishment by both sides to get to the point to where both teams are."
Aggie fans in Logan will be able to watch the game at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum on Saturday. Admission is free, and the doors open at 1:45 p.m., fifteen minutes before kickoff.
