Utah now has the fifth lowest adult obesity rate in the nation. Utah tied with California to rank forty-six in the nation for having the lowest adult obesity rate at 24.1 percent.  Colorado had the lowest rate at 21.3 percent according to The State of Obesity: Better Policies for a Healthier America, a report from the Trust for American’s Health (TFAH) and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF).

Adult obesity rates in Wyoming and Idaho were among the six states that showed an increase in the number of adults reported to be obese.

Findings reveal that significant geographic, income, racial, and ethnic disparities persist, with obesity rates highest in the South and among Blacks, Latinos and lower-income, less-educated Americans.  The report also found that more than one in ten children become obese as early as ages 2 to 5.
